P Katz June Celebration Log
© Patricia Katz MCE CHRP, Optimus Consulting
2006 marked my twentieth year in business. To commemorate the occasion, my friend and colleague, Maggie, gave me a wall stencil with the word 'Celebrate'. I affixed that to the wall in my office and declared the year 2006 to be a year of celebration.
In 2006 I celebrated my 54th birthday and my 32nd wedding anniversary. My children reached 26 and 21 years of age; and my eldest daughter married. Major milestones always stand out, but my intent was to find something to celebrate every single day of the year.
This log is the expression of that intent. Day by day, I recorded experiences, events, and conditions - large and small. Despite life's challenges and disappointments, I always found something to celebrate.
I'm sharing this with you in the hopes that it might help you notice and celebrate more of the good things to be found in your everyday life, too.
Appreciatively yours, Patricia
PS - Why not try this yourself? Download one of the Celebration Log templates and create your own record of appreciation day by day. It's available in two forms with my compliments:
- My Celebration Log - MS Word Doc (333 kb)
- My Celebration Log - PDF Format (77 kb)
June 1 - Today I celebrate ... the end of the long list of 'must do's' and what feels very much like the freedom to play in the garden. That is exactly where I am headed.
June 2 - Today I celebrate ... my life. Today I am 54 years of age. Coffee and gifts with my husband and daughter, breakfast with one sister, golf with two other sisters, lunch with another sister, an afternoon nap, a phone visit with my Mom, lobster dinner with Dave and Lindsay, and coffee and cheesecake with a favorite aunt. A fabulous day!
June 3 - Today I celebrate ... the gift of the start of another year of life. May I never take it for granted.
June 4 - Today I celebrate ... Sundays in the sun - digging in the dirt and progress in the garden. Every day more pots are planted, more plants stick their feet in the soil.
June 5 - Today I celebrate ... the stories of action and synchronicity, as we gathered for the Living and Leading Well Workshop follow up.
June 6 - Today I celebrate ... the ease of repeat clients and the confidence they place in me - calling on me for another round.
June 7 - Today I celebrate ... the ease with which I respond to media interviews. Round Two 'As If' interview 'in the can'.
June 8 - Today I celebrate ... steps taken to move the book cover design forward. Met with the designers, and am optimistic that something wonderful is coming out of this.
June 9 - Today I celebrate ... friends and colleagues. Great to share a wonderful dinner with friends, Karen, Jim and David.
June 10 - Today I celebrate ... a long visit with my niece, Lyndy, after she attended my session at the Vitalize conference. The enthusiasm of three year olds. Paige meets her flower girl dress .. and she loves it...she loves it!
June 11 - Today I celebrate ... the joy of returning home after a busy week.
June 12 - Today I celebrate ... that I have the resources to pay my taxes and contribute to this great country of ours.
June 13 - Today I celebrate ... the importance of speaking my truth. I really do not like the first design of the book cover, and I have to say so.
June 14 - Today I celebrate ... sweet Nicole, who spends the morning and helps me deadhead the anemones in the garden. After ten minutes: "Aunt Pat, I think this is going to take all morning." Still, she sticks with the task.
June 15 - Today I celebrate ... the music of my youth. A Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman concert - what fun to sing along - great memories of younger days.
June 16 - Today I celebrate ... yet another chance to spend time with Tristan and Marc. They arrive home for the weekend and more wedding planning.
June 17 - Today I celebrate ... my role as Mother of the Bride. Enjoyed the shower and simply being present and witness to the warm wishes headed Tristan's way.
June 18 - Today I celebrate ... the beautiful flower baskets that Shelley and Metro have created and brought for the wedding.
June 19 - Today I celebrate ... solving my wedding pillar problem, by getting Steelmet to create simple ring stands to suspend the planters.
June 20 - Today I celebrate ... the 26th annual celebration of TPK Day - the day our first daughter, Tristan, arrived in our lives. How lucky we were and are!
June 21 - Today I celebrate ... the first day of summer. Sunshine skies, warm air, long days.
June 22 - Today I celebrate ... the fabulous good fortune we've had in holding the Human Resource Association AGM in this place on this day. Elbow in the sunshine - clear skies and calm winds for golfing and cruising.
June 23 - Today I celebrate ... the satisfaction of reaching a decision on the cover for the book. Such a process, so many details to consider. It's a done deal!
June 24 - Today I celebrate ... getting down and dirty in the garden. Digging and weeding, and trimming and pruning, and not caring how I look - just enjoying the work.
June 25 - Today I celebrate ... Stuart McLean and CBC's Vinyl Café. What a great radio program and what a wonderful storyteller.
June 26 - Today I celebrate ... being able to sit out in the backyard in the late afternoon sunshine with a glass of wine at hand, writing thank you notes - appreciating the people in my life, and this beautiful garden.
June 27 - Today I celebrate ... the 21st anniversary of LEK Day - the day our second daughter, Lindsay, arrived in our lives. What joy, adventure, and growth she has brought our way!
June 28 - Today I celebrate ... crossing endless workplace details off my list. It feels good to clear the decks for the final approach to the day of the wedding.
June 29 - Today I celebrate ... a visit with Lillas - and sharing her excitement at the purchase of a new home in Calgary.
June 30 - Today I celebrate ... a long catch up phone call with sister in law, Jane. Encouraging and loving words from afar.
